About Mrs. Allen
Hello!
I was born and raised in the Madison area, and graduated from Sun Prairie High School. After high school, I went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, and majored in Elementary education and special education. I spent a year subbing in my hometown, and then moved to Milwaukee to begin my career as a 4th grade teacher. I taught 4th and 5th grade for 12 years in the Milwaukee Public Schools. Afterwards, I took a position as a K-8 Science coordinator in the Oconomowoc School District, but I really missed being in the classroom teaching. We moved to Stevens Point in 2000, and I was hired to teach in the DC Everest School District. I started at Weston teaching 4th grade, and I was hired as the unit leader/4th grade teacher when Mountain Bay was built. I love it here! I'm starting my 28th year of teaching this year.
I've been married for 28 years, and we have two children. My husband, Steve, works for Delta Dental in the IT department. My son Ian, who is 25, just returned home from Rwanda, Africa, where he served in the Peace Corp for two years. He will be a graduate student at the University of Minnesota in International Education this fall. My daughter Megan is in her last year at UW-Oshkosh, where she is a business major. She is an intern at Bemis Corp. in Neenah. I love having her so close and I get to see her often.
My parents are elderly and live in Madison, so I still get to Madison quite frequently to help care for them. I'm also a huge Badger fan, and try to get to the games when I can when I'm in Madison, or I cheer them on in the comfort of my living room!
